Lions of Oklahoma State Conventions

The Lions of Oklahoma have various conventions to encourage and support the local Lions Clubs. In Oklahoma we have our State Annual Convention along with a District Convention for each District. Currently the District Conventions are listed on their individual pages under the MD3 Lions of Oklahoma tab above.

Lions of Oklahoma State Awards

The Lions of Oklahoma have a long History of acknowledging those Lions that have gone above and beyond the call "To Serve".

These are the following awards and qualifications. If you know someone special who is deserving of one of these, please contact your District Governor by January 15th of the current year to nominate them.


District Lion of the Year Guidelines for selection of the District Lion of the Year shall be: Must be an active member in good standing. Must be nominated by his/her club or zone chair. Must have performed outstanding service beyond the club level during the current year. Nominations for District Lion of the Year must be received by the District Governor 45 days prior to the State Convention. All nominations should include a photo of the individual member nominated. Past District Lion of the Year Winners may not be selected again. A Lion who moves into the district and has received the award in another district may be eligible in District 3-SW. This recipient must be a Lion in good standing, from a club of good standing with district, state, and International.


Leo of the Year. The District Governor will select the District Leo of the Year from nominations received by Leo-sponsoring Lions Clubs in the District. Nominations for District Leo of the year must be received by the District Governor 45 days prior to the State Convention.


Humanitarian Service Award-Individual may be presented each year by the Lions of Oklahoma to a non-Lion individual and the Humanitarian Service Award-Organization may be presented each year by the Lions of Oklahoma to a non-Lion organization. Nominees will be selected by the Council of Governors. Each Governor may make one nomination in each category. The nominees will have exhibited outstanding service to the community, state, nation or world. This service should have a connection to Lionism. Nominations must be submitted to the Council Chairperson by February 15. The Council of Governors must decide that the recipients are worthy of recognition. The recipients' names are to be submitted to the State Office by the first of the month preceding the State Convention. The presentation will be made at the State Convention. Any individual or organization may receive this award only one time.

PIP Dr. Robert "Bob" McCullough Meritorious Service Award will be presented to a Lion who has been a Lion for at least ten years and displayed meritorious service in the performance of Lionistic activities. The following are guidelines for receiving this award. Each District Governor may submit one nominee from recommendations presented to them. If a Lion has been nominated one year and does not receive the award, that Lion can be nominated again in the following year. All past recipients of this award will vote on the nominations for the current year. The last recipient of this award will serve as Chairperson of the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee Chairperson will tabulate the votes and submit the recipient's name to the State Office by the first of the month preceding the State Convention. The winner will be announced at the State Convention.
