District Governor 3-SW Rick Drummond

Rick was born April 1st, 1951 to Chuck and Millie Drummond. Officially named after his grandfather, Charles Richard Drummond, he became the “third” and as Charlie, and Chuck (his father) were taken, he was given the nickname Rick. His grandparents moved to Indian Territory from Paris Texas, and were married in Weleetka, IT. They soon moved to Ada to raise a family, and that became Rick’s lifelong home. He was raised in the Ada school system, graduated high school in 1969, graduated Tulane University in 1973 with a B.S. in Chemistry, and was accepted into a PhD program at Oklahoma University in Microbiology in 1975. He turned from academics two years later to take over the family electrical contracting business.

Seemingly a life-long bachelor, in 2004 he met Diana Martin on-line and they married March 14th, 2005, in Jamaica. They enjoyed travelling and particularly trips to Israel. After Diana’s graduation from East Central University, where she worked at the Bursar’s Office, she convinced Rick to join her and they completed Master’s degrees in Secondary Education five semesters later.

Their partnership in Lions began when Rick was elected as President of the Ada Lions Club in 2017. Diana joined to support his presidency. In 2023 Rick was “volen-told” to accept the office of Second Vice-District Governor for MD3-SW and again Diana stepped up to support Rick in his office even as she completed two terms as the President of the Ada Lions Club. Together Rick and Diana, and their Schnauzers—don’t forget the Schnauzers! —enjoy exploring the United States, and have visited Niagara Falls, Yellowstone, and countless National Parks and Civil War sites. Their travel trailer sits patiently in its garage waiting for the next trip—if these pesky Lions will leave him alone!

Ok Lions Southwest District Convention: The convention will be in Lawton, Oklahoma this year at the FISTA Innovation Park Central Plaza 200 SW "C" Avenue, Lawton, Ok. on Friday March 7th and Saturday March 8th, 2025. Please click on the link underlined above for the registration form.
