District Governor Kathy is originally from Midwest City, graduating with honors from Carl Albert HS Class of 1974. She studied at East Central University & graduated with a BA in Spanish & BS in Elementary Education. She went to OU for a Masters in Spanish on a Graduate Assistant Stipend and taught beginning Spanish while there.

 She taught High School Spanish & French in Bristow, OK until she married Lion Ronald Whaley. They moved back to Oklahoma City, and she worked at various jobs including NewView Oklahoma for 14 years. When her dad became ill she moved to Lula, Oklahoma and cared for him until he passed, then moved back to Oklahoma City.

Kathy has been a Lion since 1999. Lion Ron was her sponsor, and she joined the Bethany Helping Hands club. serving as Secretary, President & Eye Glass Chairperson.  After Helping Hands merged with Westside Lions, she has been President, Director, Guiding Lion, and Membership Chair. She was honored as Lion of the Year for both clubs. In District 3SW she has served as Zone Chair, 2VDG & 1VDG. She has received 3 International President Appreciation Certificates. She likes to travel and has 2 dogs & 1 cat: Pickles, Pirate & Prissy.
