Sue grew up in Mangum, Oklahoma, moved to Oklahoma City and lived there 35 years before moving back to Southwest Oklahoma in 1994. This is where she bought half ownership in an Independent Insurance Agency. Sue decided to join a Civic Club and a friend invited her to go to the Altus Lions Club. Sue joined the club in 2004 and soon became very involved! Sue served on the Board for several years, then became President in 2008. She was honored to receive the Lion of the Year from the Altus Club in 2006 and named as a Melvin Jones Fellow in 2013. She attended her first State Convention in 2008 specifically to hear PIP Al Brandel and his wife Dr. Maureen Murphy speak about their experiences on 9-11. That was when she stated she had become a real Lion! Sue was thrilled to have PIP Brandel speak at her District Convention in 2014.
Sue has served as Zone Chair, Region Chair, VDG, and District Governor of 3L in 2013-2014. Sue served as Vice Council Chair from 2014-2016 and was proud to be named the 3L Lion of the Year in 2017. She received two President’s Leadership Medals in 2015 and 2021. Sue has also served on the Oklahoma Lions Eye Bank Board from 2006-2013 and several terms since then. Sue also served on the Boys Ranch Board 2013-2016. She is currently the SW District Membership Chair. Sue has attended five International Conventions and seven Leadership Forums.
